“Shaka iLembe” Release Date is Here!

History buffs and Nomzamo Mbatha fans, rejoice! The release date for “Shaka iLembe” has finally been revealed!

The upcoming historical drama is set to make its debut on Mzansi Magic at 20:00 on 18 June.

As the name suggests, the series revolves around Shaka Zulu, the most famous Zulu king to have ever lived. Per Mzansi Magic’s official synopsis, it “tells the story of the making of the iconic African king, with iterations from his early childhood through to adulthood, during the 1700s.”

Two actors will be playing Shaka in his old and young years, respectively: “Traffic!” actor Lemogang Tsipa and newcomer Ntando Zondi.

As for actress Nomzamo Mbatha, she will be portraying Queen Nandi, Shaka’s revered mother, much to her excitement.

“I am honoured to bring the giant that is Queen Nandi to life,” the “Isibaya” star gushed in a previous interview. “History will remember those who informed its people of where we come from, to better understand who we are.

“I am fortunate to be part of a project that is much bigger than ourselves and to tell this story in our own language.”
